Welcome to my home page. I am Katy W. Parker, Physics I Honors and Physics II AP teacher at Baton Rouge Magnet High School. I consider myself the luckiest of teachers to have the opportunity to work with the students that I teach!
Currently in my twenty-seventh year of teaching, I hold a Master's Degree in mathematics from Louisiana State University and have completed graduate hours in the study of physics. On two occasions I received the U.S. Presidential Scholars Teacher Recognition Award.
I also sponsor the Science Olympiad Team and the Science Bowl Team, each defending state champions. Our students compete successfully with the brightest science students from across the country, having placed third in the National Science Bowl and regularly earning medals in various National Science Olympiad events.
It is my hope that all of my students develop strong analytical skills and an enthusiasm for the study of physics, that they learn to "see physics in the world around them" and that they leave well prepared to continue their studies on the university level.
Student scores on tests and other major assignments are posted regularly on BLACKBOARD.
