Health and Physical Education
Year-long physical education classes available to BRMHS students include Life and Team Sports, Dance, Swimming, Tennis, Soccer, Track and Field, Aerobics, Wrestling, Golf and Gymnastics. The diversity of course offerings, the opportunity for a student to specialize in a sport for up to four years, and the fact that the specialized courses are taught by the school's coaches make this department truly unique. Health is offered as a one semester course to satisfy the state graduation requirement.
Facilities on campus include two playing fields, a 440-yard running track, two volleyball courts, five basketball courts, a weight room, a fully equipped gymnastics area, tournament-sized wrestling mats, a dance studio complete with full mirrors and bars, and seven fenced tennis courts with two hitting walls. Students are bused to the A.C. Lewis YMCA for swimming and to City Park Golf Course for golf.
BRMHS provides a comprehensive program of intramural and interscholastic athletics. Intramural athletes compete after school and play championship games before the student body. The school offers 18 of the 23 sports sanctioned by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, and has won five of the last six trophies awarded to the top class 5A sports program in the state (Piccadilly Cup and Southern Regional Ford Dealers Cup).
