Mission: Mu Alpha Theta is an organization dedicated to promoting scholarship in mathematics and establishing math as an integral part of high school and junior college education. Students are required to have a 3.0 GPA and a math GPA of 3.0. MAO is not just for those who excel in math; it is also a club for those who like having fun and competing. MAO members participate in both highschool and college sponsored tournaments throughout the year. Other activities include parties, practices and hosting tournaments. The effort expended in all of these activities is focused towards the Louisiana MAO State convention and ultimately the MAO National Convention. MAO provides an opportunity for students to compete against students from other schools across the state and nation.
